Wanna Bee Racing was originated in 1992 by the Grigg family when they acquired a 7 litre hydroplane.  Working diligently through the winter they made their debut in spring of 1993.  The driver was John Grigg Jr., who was new to the now Grand National Hydroplane class, having graduated from a 5 litre boat.

 
In 1993 the Wanna Bee claimed a few awards.    By the end of the season the Wanna Bee Racing team had accomplished the following:
          1st Place M.A.C.H. Series for Grand National Championship
          3rd Place for the Grand National Hydroplane Series
          4th Place in the Summer Nationals at Hampton Virginia
 
Not bad for his rookie year!
The Marine Prop Riders awarded him ROOKIE OF THE YEAR.
 
By 1994 things heated up a bit more.  John took the Wanna Bee and plunged into the racing season!   By the year end the Wanna Bee had received the following awards:
  • 1st Place - M.A.C.H. Series Grand National Hydroplane
  • 1st Place - Region 6 Grand National High Points
  • 1st Place - Marine Prop Rider Grand National High Points
  • 1st Place - Toledo Prop Spinners Grand National High Points
  • 5th Place – National High Points
 
In 1996 and 1997 the Wanna Bee optained
  • 1st Place in M.A.C.H. Series,  Both years
  • 4th in the National High Points for 1996
  • 5th  in the National High Points for 1997
In 1998 thru 2007 the Wanna Bee was put to bed to allow John to step up to race the Grand Prix class. 
 
Returning to the GNH John brought the Wanna Bee out again in 2008 to optain :
2008- 2nd place in the Summer National.
2009- 2nd in National High Points.
